Stand table

The timber trestle structure consists of four legs connected by four cross bars. STAND becomes rigid and stable as soon as weight is placed upon them, enabling the trestle to support table tops of all shapes and sizes. No fixings or tools are required to assemble the trestle.

We recommend our elegant white table tops, particle board panels laminated with melamin resin featuring seamless, precisely lasered edges with a thickness of 25 mm. Other tops and sizes can also be used, in materials as diverse as glass, timber or stone.

This very light-weight table answers all your needs in both private and professional environments. You can use it as a timber dining table, as a work desk or as a temporary meeting table. The table top rests on cellular rubber pads partially recessed into the top end of each leg. These ensure safe adhesion between table top and trestle, preventing any sideways slipping in daily use or in the case of impact.

Our table is available in two different sizes. Stand is suitable for dining tables seating 6-8 persons, for large desks or for other purposes such as display for goods. Stand mini lends itself both to smaller work tables and for dining tables seating 4-6 persons.

The trestle is manufactured from solid ash sourced from local forests. To preserve the simple appearance of STAND, its legs and cross bars have not been surface treated. The natural growth pattern of ash results in a wide variety of grain and colour, but overall appearance and usability are not affected. Over time, the wood will take on a natural patina. Ash is not weather-resistant, outdoor use is therefore limited. The trestle is also available in an elegant white stain finish, recommended for environments with a variety of timber finishes and vibrant colours already present.

Display organizer

Display is a bookrest, stand and storage unit all in one. At home and at work, Display collects and keeps important papers and cards in full view on your desk.

Digitalization has only made us less paperless than ever before. Display groups items together by category or keeps them separate - functioning as a three dimensional clipboard for loose papers, writings and books, or as a permanent showcase for memorabilia. Whatever we understand by order, Display offers us the overview and the detail. Or it disappears under its load like a crowded shelf.

The tectonic miniature is made of high-precision milled beech rods, finished in clear, traffic orange or carbon gray lacquer.

Initially conceived as a single cast component, Display’s complex geometry evolved during a long process of prototyping and understanding of user-requirements. The manufacturing process combines craftsmanship and robotics in a way that is both sustainable and innovative, but also reminiscent of the Erzgebirge wood craft tradition. The barrel lacquering process is derived from pharmaceutical tablet coating technology, now available for non-medical applications and ideal for sharp-edged timber parts.

Sims wall rack

Sims, german word for cornice, a protruding edge on buildings, sets horizontal accents in living and working spaces. The narrow wallboard brings everything you put on it into a clear neighborhood. On this floating surface, things seem intentionally staged.

The Sims is manufactured in solid pine coming from European forests. The natural growth habit of pine results in a great variaty of grain and colour, but overall appearance and usability are not affected. Over time, the wood will take on a natural patina. Sims is made of oiled pine, which does not shy away from contact with moisture. It is therefore particularly suitable for kitchen and bathroom.

Why make a fuss about a simple pine board? Just because it is so simple and yet not self-evident: only long, straight growth and knotless pine slats 1.50 metres long are used. Each wall board has its very own expressive pattern. The elaborate and precise sharp edge makes the board appear to fly. The beauty of the grain and the silky-smooth surface of this ‘poor’ wood are expressed less in a rustic and more in an elegant way. Fastening details remain invisible and yet are as simple as they are self-explanatory.

Un/Applied Arts

“Un/Applied Arts” gives readers first-ever insights into the work of product designer Jakob Timpe, presenting furniture and lighting fixtures produced by brands such as Alias, Marset, Serien, Vondingen, and Nils Holger Moormann as well as unpublished projects and studies. This book of objects addresses their “appliability” with the same unbiasedness it demonstrates in oscillating between monograph, magazine, and catalogue. Timpe’s verbal imagery establishes a very individual, well-founded approach to design.

Plattform bed

If you think of a bed as a platform to support soft padding for sleeping, then it could be formed by stools arranged in a group the size of a mattress. Accordingly, the Plattform bed consists of individual parts that make it variable, quick to assemble, and easy to ship or transport. Square elements and optional headboards make it possible to assemble single and double beds as well as beds for children and guests.

The felt modules are manufactured of heated polyester nonwoven fabric that is pressed in a mold. Formfleece is a recycled material that is used in the interiors of cars and for instrument cases: felt-like on its surface, it is nevertheless quite stiff and torsion resistant. Hence when its density and the proportion of melt fibers are chosen correctly, the nonwoven fabric can supplant the pretensioned elasticity of a slatted bed frame. In addition, it is permeable to air and water. When the 51 x 51 cm elements are arranged into a platform, their wide-spanning vaulted caps abut the lower, rounded ends of the legs. This surface, with its pattern of “square stitching”, is reminiscent of the well-known padded capitonné upholstery technique. Once the relief of the tufted covering has been translated to self-supporting, molded nonwoven fabric shells, this embodiment of cushioning corresponds exactly to the requirements of a bed.

Plattform forms a support whose surface invariably extends out beyond the edge of the mattress. This projection gives Plattform the semblance of an occidental adaptation of Japanese sleeping places, so-called futon beds. These low, wooden bed frames that broadly surround a flat mattress are supposed to represent the tatami floor mats on which Japanese futons directly lie. In contrast to the bulky and hard frames of such beds, Plattform, with its soft feel and its springy surface, is an extremely lightweight alternative.
